Town house in JEJU   '양지 위, 빛의 집'

제주에 자리한 타운하우스 ‘양지원’은 이름 그대로 ‘양지 위, 빛의 집’을 뜻합니다.

제한된 부지 조건 속에서 타운하우스 설계는 조화와 관계, 그리고 독립성을 균형 있게 담아내는 것이 무엇보다 중요합니다. 건축 마스터플랜을 맡은 디안 건축설계사무소는 다섯 채의 집을 설계하며 ‘관계’를 가장 우선에 두었습니다. 각 세대는 독립적으로 서 있으면서도, 프라이버시와 고유한 삶의 리듬을 존중하는 배치를 통해 함께 어우러집니다. 집들은 나란히 놓이는 것이 아니라, 서로의 풍경을 만들어주며 단지 전체의 장면을 완성합니다. 우리가 말하는 ‘좋은 집의 관계’는 바로 이 섬세한 균형 속에서 드러납니다.

균형과 조화는 내부 공간 디자인에도 이어집니다. 실내는 풍경과 햇살이 온전히 머물 수 있도록 비움의 미학으로 채워졌습니다. 제주를 상징하는 돌담과 현무암의 질감은 모던하고 정갈한 공간 언어와 만나 새로운 긴장감을 형성합니다. 거친 자연의 물성은 매끈한 벽과 따뜻한 목재의 결과 어우러지며, 공간에 깊이를 더합니다. 그 속에서 생활은 더욱 단순해지고, 공간은 한층 품격을 갖추게 됩니다.

The townhouse complex “Yangjiwon”, located in Jeju, translates to “a house of light on the sunny side.”

Within the constraints of a limited site, the design focused on achieving a balance between harmony, relationship, and independence. Led by Dian Architects, the masterplan prioritized the interplay among the five houses. Each unit stands independently, ensuring privacy and respecting individual rhythms of life, while collectively shaping the overall landscape of the community. This embodies the architectural pursuit of a “good relationship between houses.”

The interior design continues this emphasis on balance and harmony. Spaces are organized with restraint, allowing sunlight and surrounding views to permeate freely. Jeju’s familiar stone walls and basalt are paired with modern, refined materials to create a dynamic tension: the raw textures of nature contrast with smooth surfaces and warm wood grains, adding depth to the spaces. Through this dialogue, life within becomes simpler, while the architecture gains a heightened sense of dignity and refinement.
