Obellino Showroom '쇼룸의 본질적 가치를 담기 위한 고찰'
가구 쇼룸이라는 공간의 본격적 설계에 앞서 '공간을 기획할때 공간이 추구하는 본질적 가치와 그에 기반한 완벽한 경험은 무엇일까?'에서 시작하였다. 전시하고자 하는 브랜드의 궁극적 디자인 상과 철학을 연구하여 우리는 '오벨리노' 가구 브랜드의 독보적인 하이엔드 경험을 공간 방문자에게 선사하는 것이 이 프로젝트의 목적이었다. 그 목적을 위함에 있어서 3가지 공간적 가치에 기반을 두었다.
첫번째. '오벨리노'가 지향하는 독보적 하이엔드 유러피언의 르네상스적 건축 요소와 디테일을 담았다.
유럽의 전통 하이엔드를 표방하여 그 가치와 정신을 공간적으로 표현한다. 높은 천정고를 가진 공간의 장점을 극대화 하여 우리가 알려주고자 하는 브랜드 가치를 말하고자 하였다. 유럽 전통 건축의 경의로움과 성스러움을 표현하는 돔 형태의 천정을 착안하여 높은 아치형 천정을 통해 공간만의 특별한 가치를 부여하고, 고급스러운 대리석 타일과 고급원목마루와 함께 공간에서 느낄 수 있는 유러피언의 하이엔드적 분위기와 감성을 경험할 수 있다. 아치형태의 부드러운 곡면의 이미지는 벽면에서도 자연스럽게 반영되어 안정적이고 차분하며, 일반적이지 않은 고급스러운 연출을 추구하였다.
두번째. 풍부한 공간 경험을 선사하는 갤러리적 요소의 시퀀스
공간에 전시되는 여러 전시 가구를 공간 방문자에게 보여주기에 앞서 일반적이지 않은 시퀀스를 생각하였다. 하나의 가구를 방문자에게 선사하더라도 스토리와 독보적 감성을 통해 극적인 연출을 추구하였다. 치밀한 동선 계획과 최소한의 조명연출, 적절한 시야를 가리는 가벽과 자동슬라이딩 도어를 통하여 방문자는 자연스럽게 우리가 계획했던 전시가구의 독보적 연출을 경험 할 수 있다.
세번째. 공간 성격의 특성을 고려한 유동적 레이아웃의 설계.
전시장에서는 4가지의 프로세스로 구성된다. 전시의 시작을 알리는 웰컴라운지부터 본격적인 쇼룸, 방문자를 위한 특별한 이벤트 스튜디오 공간과 이를 확장하여 특별한 파티를 열 수 있는 4가지 기능으로 구성된다. 공간 운영자 입장에서의 다양한 쇼룸 이벤트를 위하여 어느 한 공간이 리모델링 중이여도 유동적인 동선을 통해 자유로운 관람이 가능하도록 설계하였다.
전시장이라는 공간의 목적성을 유지하며 공간을 운영하는 사람들에 대한 배려, 공간을 방문하는 사람들에게는 독보적 경험을 할수있는 요소에 대해 깊은 고찰을 하였다. 그러함에 우리는 위 3가지의 가치가 이 공간을 정의 한다고 생각했다. 결국에는 공간을 사용하는 사람들과 공간을 경험하는 사람들 사이에 소통되는 생각과 교감이 우리가 추구하고자 하는 완성된 공간의 철학이며 이는 오랫동안 지속 될 수 있는 디자인의 가치라고 본다.

Obellino Showroom / A Reflection on the Fundamental Philosophical Value of the Showroom
Before initiating the full-scale design of the furniture showroom, we began with a fundamental question:
“What is the essential value that this space aims to pursue, and what kind of complete experience should be built upon that value?”
Through in-depth research into the ultimate design vision and philosophy of the brand we wished to exhibit, we concluded that the primary goal of this project was to deliver Obellino’s unique high-end experience to every visitor.
To achieve that, our design was grounded in three core spatial values:
1. Renaissance-Inspired Architectural Language Reflecting Obellino’s Unique High-End European Aesthetic
We embodied the essence of traditional European high-end design, reflecting both its values and spirit through spatial expression.
By fully leveraging the soaring ceiling height, the space becomes a vessel that speaks to the core identity of the brand. Inspired by the sacred and awe-inspiring nature of domed architecture in classical European buildings, we incorporated a tall arched ceiling to elevate the space’s symbolic value.
Together with luxurious marble tiles and fine hardwood flooring, the showroom evokes an unmistakable European high-end atmosphere and emotion.
Soft curves of the arch motif are also reflected throughout the walls, creating a sense of serenity, sophistication, and a refined visual language that defies convention.
2. Gallery-Like Spatial Sequences that Offer Rich, Layered Experiences
Rather than presenting the furniture in a conventional manner, we envisioned a non-linear, gallery-inspired spatial sequence that unfolds dramatically.
Each piece is introduced with its own narrative and emotional tone. Through careful circulation planning, minimal lighting design, and strategic visual barriers such as partitions and automatic sliding doors, visitors are naturally guided through a curated sequence of spatial moments. This approach allows them to fully absorb the distinct presence of each exhibition piece.
3. A Flexible Layout That Adapts to the Multifunctional Nature of the Showroom
The showroom is organized into four functional zones:
Understanding the operator’s need for flexibility in hosting diverse events, we designed a layout that allows for smooth circulation—even when certain areas are under remodeling—ensuring an uninterrupted visitor experience at all times.
With this project, we deeply contemplated how to maintain the purpose of the exhibition space, while considering the people who operate it and, most importantly, those who experience it.
We believe the three values outlined above define this space.
Ultimately, the communication and resonance between those who use the space and those who experience it form the philosophical foundation of our design. This connection, we believe, is what gives a design its lasting value.
